Sidewalk Replacement

Each year the City of Oshkosh has a comprehensive sidewalk program to replace sidewalks throughout the city.

An important part of this program provides property owners the opportunity to request replacement of their sidewalk. The procedure to have sidewalk replaced is as follows:

  1. Fill out a request form and submit to City Hall Room 301 or call Josh Parker, City Sidewalk Inspector at (920) 236-5041 before May 1st.
  2. The City Sidewalk Inspector will meet with you at your property to mark the sidewalk to be replaced and give a cost estimate.
  3. The sidewalk will be removed, replaced, back filled, and hydro seeded between May 1st and October 15th.
  4. After completion of the entire project, the City Clerk will send out information regarding payment options. Bills for less than $500 must be paid for in full within 30 days of being invoiced or on the next tax bill. If the cost exceeds $500, the property owner may elect to pay the assessment over a ten (10) year period at six percent (6%) interest. If the cost exceeds $1,000, the property owner may elect to pay the assessment over a fifteen (15) year period at six percent (6%) interest.

The city receives bids for the sidewalk program from contractors that are competing for the lowest contract bid which is in the property owners' best interest.
