Council Member Karl Buelow is currently serving his second term on the Oshkosh Common Council. He serves on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, the Plan Commission, and the Oshkosh Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).
Previously, Karl served on the Long Range Finance Committee, the Oshkosh Housing Authority, the Landmarks Commission, and as Council Liaison to the Oshkosh Public Library Board. He also served on the Transit Advisory Board and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission.
Karl has dedicated his career to hospitality and community service, helping to create spaces where everyone feels welcome. Over the past decade, he has worked with organizations including EAA, The Day by Day Shelter, and the Oshkosh Area Community Pantry. He now serves as the Director of Development at The Grand Oshkosh. Karl holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from UW Oshkosh.
Karl ran for City Council to bring an environment of welcome and hospitality to city government. In his second term, he continues to focus on listening, inclusion, and collaboration to strengthen the Oshkosh community.
Karl lives near downtown Oshkosh and enjoys being within walking distance of the university, the farmer’s market, and the city’s parks, river, and lakefront trails. You can often find him playing basketball, pickleball, or biking in local parks with his partner, Jennifer, and their children. He’s also a familiar face in local coffee shops or at the dog park with his two rescue dogs.
