Council Vacancy

The Oshkosh Common Council is accepting applications from city residents to fill a vacancy of an at-large council seat. The term of the appointed Common Council member would run through April 21, 2026.

Process:

• Interested citizens must submit a letter of interest, resume and Council Candidate Questionnaire to the City Clerk no later than 4:30 PM on Wednesday, November 12

• Requirements:

  • 18 years of age
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Resident of the city
  • Qualified to register to vote
  • Find all minimum qualifications on the Wisconsin Elections Commission's website

• Completed applications may be emailed, sent via the U.S. Postal Service, or hand delivered to the Office of the City Clerk at City Hall (215 Church Ave.)

• Applicant information will be forwarded to City Council members and will be made available to the public in the office of the City Clerk and online.
• Applicants will make brief presentations at the Common Council meeting on Tuesday, November 25 at 6 PM
• There will then be an opportunity for public comments, Common Council discussion, and finally, Council will vote and make an appointment that night.
