The City Attorney Office cannot provide legal advice regarding private matters that involve citizens of the City of Oshkosh. Below are some legal resources that may address particular needs:

Conflict Resolution (Winnebago County):

The Conflict Resolution Center offers free mediation services to the public. The Center handles cases involving small claims, juvenile restitution, landlord/tenant disputes, disputes between neighbors, employee/employer disputes and other similar matters. Consumer Complaints:

Persons having consumer complaints or inquiries should contact the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection in Madison toll-free at 800-422-7128. (www.datcp.State.wi.us)

Criminal Matters:

The District Attorney prosecutes all criminal matters occurring within the boundaries of Winnebago County, including the City of Oshkosh, and county traffic and ordinance violations occurring within the County outside the city. For information or inquiries about matters handled by the District Attorney, please call 920-236-4977. A special office exists for victims and witnesses who have questions about the status of the criminal matter in which they are involved, and this number also is 920-236-4977.

Criminal Representation:

The State Public Defender provides representation in criminal matters to defendants who meet certain eligibility criteria relating to income. The Office of the Public Defender is located at 404 N. Main St., Oshkosh, and may be contacted at 920-424-3304.

Legal Advice and Representation:

Legal Services:

Persons meeting certain eligibility criteria relating to income may qualify for legal assistance from the Legal Action of Wisconsin, Inc. for non-fee generating legal matters, such as domestic relations, consumer complaints, landlord-tenant issues, etc. Legal Action is located at 404 N.
