Emergency Declaration Still in Effect
UPDATED 4/29/26:
The City of Oshkosh is advising residents of possible flooding as the Fox River and Lake Winnebago have risen following recent rain events and major flooding which occurred upstream from Oshkosh.
The Fox River crested around 4.0 feet on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Gauge on Monday, April 27, 2026. Low-lying areas near the Fox River, Lake Winnebago, Sawyer Creek, and Campbell Creek have been most affected. This includes portions of Sawyer Street, particularly the area near 4th Avenue and Mason Street, and some areas along Witzel Avenue. More information regarding water levels can be found on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers website: https://www.lrd.usace.army.mil/Missions/Projects/Article/3623884/lake-winnebago/
For residents who need to dispose of used sandbags:
Just place them at the curb on your regular trash day starting May 4. Our Sanitation team will identify pickup locations during normal routes, and our operations team will pick them up as soon as possible. Questions? Contact the Sanitation Division at 920-232-5383.
Residents are also encouraged to take precautions around their property:
- Use care when handling sandbags, which weigh about 50 pounds each
- Turn off power in areas where flooding may occur, if safe to do so
- Move batteries, hazardous materials, and electrical devices out of areas that may flood
A State of Emergency continues within the City of Oshkosh in response to potential flooding caused by high water elevation. For any questions related to flood debris, please call the Oshkosh Sanitation Office at 920-232-5383.
The City of Oshkosh will continue to monitor conditions and share updates through official communication channels.
