Student Riders and Youth Group Trips

K-12 Student Riders

GO Transit buses offer great access to schools within the City. The service is safe, convenient, on-time, and available through almost all weather conditions. During the school year, nearly 50% of bus riders are students!* Many of our existing routes provide direct or very close service to schools. Additionally, we offer a few scheduled route deviations and special service to make sure all students have a safe ride to and from school. Parents: If this is the first year your child plans to take the bus to school and you have questions about the service, feel free to contact us at 232-5340 or stop by our office and we’ll help to plan your child’s daily commute to school.

*According to 2005 survey conducted by East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission. 12% of riders listed college student as their occupation and 36% of riders listed K-12 student.

WisGO Student Bus Pass Program

Through a partnership with Oshkosh Area School District, GO Transit is pleased to be able to offer free bus rides for all students for the 2026-2027 school year. Students in grades 6-12 will be required to have a student bus pass to ride the bus for free. No other forms of ID will be valid for this program for students in grades 6-12. Please see below for the new bus pass procedures for this upcoming school year.

Starting for 2026-2027 school year, OASD students will use the UMO Mobility app to ride GO Transit for free.

• WisGo student bus passes will no longer work after September 7, 2026, as everything will run through the UMO Mobility App
• Download the UMO Mobility app and create an account with your school email address. Please make sure your first and last name are also on your account. For help with downloading and setting up the app, see our step-by-step guide and video instructions.
• Then, visit the school's main office to have your Student Pass added to your account and activated
• Once your pass is activated, you do not need Wi-Fi or cellular data to scan your pass when boarding the bus. Internet access is only needed during setup.
• Students who do not have access to a smartphone should contact their school office about receiving a physical bus pass. Physical cards will be available only as needed, and any associated fees will be determined by the school.

Youth Group Trips

School classes, youth groups, and other organizations have utilized GO Transit buses for safe transportation to local events and destinations. Oshkosh Transit will be happy to assist you with the scheduling of your next group trip. Let us know where and when you would like to go and we will send you a trip itinerary and other guidance. Class trips to the Oshkosh Public Library are free.

GO Transit buses can usually handle groups of approximately 25 riders (includes adult chaperones). In some circumstances, slightly larger groups can be accommodated. Chaperones are required for groups of children under 18.
