Student Riders and Youth Group Trips

K-12 Student Riders

GO Transit buses offer great access to schools within the City. The service is safe, convenient, on-time, and available through almost all weather conditions. During the school year, nearly 50% of bus riders are students!* Many of our existing routes provide direct or very close service to schools. Additionally, we offer a few scheduled route deviations and special service to make sure all students have a safe ride to and from school. Please click here for detailed route information organized by school.

Parents: If this is the first year your child plans to take the bus to school and you have questions about the service, feel free to contact us at 232-5340 or stop by our office and we’ll help to plan your child’s daily commute to school.

*According to 2005 survey conducted by East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission. 12% of riders listed college student as their occupation and 36% of riders listed K-12 student.

2024 – 2025 Student Bus ID Program

Oshkosh’s GO Transit is pleased to be able to offer free bus rides for all students for the 2024-2025 school year. Effective September 1, 2024, students in grades 6-12 will be required to have a new GO Transit Student Identification Card for the 2024-2025 school year. No other forms of ID will be valid for this program for students in grades 6-12.

Students are able to obtain a GO Transit Student Pass ID at the GO Transit office for the upcoming school year. To obtain an ID, an application form must be completed, and is available here. If a student is under the age of 18, the form will need to be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Forms will also be available at the GO Transit office, 926 Dempsey Trail, or additional forms can be emailed upon request. Once the form is filled out, the student will need to stop by the GO Transit office to obtain their pass. Their information will be verified using the student list sent by the district. Their photo will be taken for their ID, and then the ID will be printed.

Students can obtain their passes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at the GO Transit office, 926 Dempsey Trail, during regular business hours from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. For convenience to students on the north side, passes also will be available on Wednesdays from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm at the Downtown Transit Center, 110 Pearl Ave. If you have any questions, please contact the GO Transit office at 920-232-5340.

Youth Group Trips

School classes, youth groups, and other organizations have utilized GO Transit buses for safe transportation to local events and destinations. Oshkosh Transit will be happy to assist you with the scheduling of your next group trip. Let us know where and when you would like to go and we will send you a trip itinerary and other guidance. Class trips to the Oshkosh Public Library are free.

GO Transit buses can usually handle groups of approximately 25 riders (includes adult chaperones). In some circumstances, slightly larger groups can be accommodated. Chaperones are required for groups of children under 18.
