Kids Corner

Welcome to the Kids Corner. It is one of our most important goals to make sure the kids of Oshkosh are aware of how to be safe. This page contains information for kids, parents, and teachers to learn about fire safety.

Schedule a Tour

Visitors are welcome to tour the fire stations. Come meet the Firefighters and Paramedics and see the equipment they use to keep your neighborhood safe. To schedule a tour please contact Public Education Specialist John Holland at 236-5249.

Things to remember when visiting the fire station:
Please be aware that the firefighters are on call 24hrs a day. Even with booked tours, the possibility exists that the crew could be called out and the station will be closed when you arrive. If a crew is not at the station for a scheduled tour, please wait a few minutes to see if they return. If the crew does not return in a reasonable amount of time, please contact us to reschedule your tour.

Fire Safe House Demo

Fire Safe House

Our fire safe house is a miniature version of the real thing, designed to teach kids what to do if they have a fire in their own home. With the help of a fog machine, a simulated cloud of smoke fills the fire safe house, setting off the smoke detector. Kids are taught to plan two ways to escape, to “Get Out and Stay Out”, and encouraged to practice their escape routes at home with a family fire drill. We also include a hazard hunt which gives kids an idea of what hazards exist in the home.
