Smoke Alarms for Everyone

All of our fire engines are equipped with a Smoke Detector Check Program Kit (detectors, batteries, etc.). Once our crews have completed emergency operations at a scene they will initiate a voluntary check of smoke detectors in the residence (only if the officer deems it appropriate to do so). If batteries are missing or non-functioning they will be replaced free of charge. Also, if there are not enough detectors located in the residence (Wisconsin law requires one on each level of the home) our firefighters will install one—again free of charge.

Also, in the event of a large residential fire, fire crews will canvas the surrounding neighborhood offering this service.

As always, this service will continue to be offered on an appointment basis, by calling the Prevention Division at 920-236-5249.
