HomeMy WebLinkAboutOutdoor_Cooking CITY OF OSHKOSH FIRE DEPARTMENT RULES FOR OUTDOOR COOKING FIRES Cooking fires shall be ignited and maintained for the purpose of cooking food for human consumption. Cooking shall be done in commercially made cooking appliances. These appliances shall have and be used in accordance with all manufactures’ instructions, to include the following requirements: Charcoal, LP, Electric Grills, and Smokers: 10.11.5.1 Open, recreational, and cooking fires shall be constantly attended by a competent person until such fire is extinguished. 10.11.6.1 For other than one-and two-family dwellings, no hibachi, grill, or other similar devices used for cooking, heating, or any other purpose shall be used or kindled on any balcony, under any overhanging portion, or within 10’ (3m) of any structure. 10.11.6.2 For other than one-and two-family dwellings, no hibachi, grill, or other similar devices used for cooking shall be stored on a balcony. SPS 314.01(6)(a) Only “listed” electric grills without an exposed heating element are allowed to be used on balconies. Disposal of ashes shall be in a non-combustible container. Which shall be kept outside of any/all buildings.
