Initiated by: Julie Johnson (Co-owner of Jansen s Bar and Restaurant) This property has been around since 1908 and the owner has approached staff about bringing the item to Landmarks for discussion. She has been researching the history of the property and obtained a number of photographs and information on the property. She is also interested in potentially rehabbing the property. 2.) Is the item related to an Historic District/contributing, listed individually, Landmarked or eligible? This property is not part of an historic district and it is not a contributing structure. It is located at 344 Bowen. Some information exists on the history of the property. 2a.) Does item conform with all Local, State, or other Ordinances, Statutes? This property underwent some modifications over the years so it is unclear whether it would have potential to be deemed historic. 2b.) Has the State Historical Society been notified or involved? No. The State has not been notified or involved yet. 2c.) Are other organizations or entities involved? Potentially-The owner and staff met with Audra Hoy from the Greater Oshkosh Economic Development Corporation to discuss potential funding options for rehabbing the property. 3.) Are Historic Tax Credits applicable for this item? Not currently. 4.) Does this pertain to municipally-owned structures? No. This is a privately-owned establishment. 5.) What is the Commission priority#for this item? Ongoing projects and property owners that approach the Commission for input are a top priority of the Commission, along with other ongoing tasks. 5a.) Does the Commission have enough information for action(s)? The Commission would benefit from having more information and once the Commission engages in dialogue with the property owner they should have a better picture of what is going on with the property. More research or follow up on Item? Yes if the Commission can be of assistance depending on what the owners would like to do with the property. 2.) Evidence of"original"? Restore to what time period? There are images from the 1940s but no images from when the property was built currently exist. 3.) Replacement Materials: accepted by State Historical society? N/A 4.) Consideration of'undo hardship on ownersT Funding sources? Owners would likely pay for rehab work and depending on whether they can get funding from other sources they may be able to leverage their dollars. 5.) Take actions? Potentially depending on what route the owners want to pursue. 6.) Follow up? None at this time.
