SUBJECT: Item 8: 415 Linde Street Plaque-Action
1.) Initiated by: Dylan Chmura-Moore
This property is a contributing structure in the Washington Avenue Historic District and
the owner applied for an historic plaque last year and the Commission approved the
plaque at its July 11f, 2018 meeting. The owner has submitted payment and is asking
that staff have the plaque put into production.
2.) Is the item related to an Historic District/contributing, listed individually, Landmarked
or eligible?
This property is a contributing structure in the Washington Avenue Historic District.
2a.) Does item conform with all Local, State, or other Ordinances, Statutes?
The UWM group has been cataloguing their findings on the site and adhering to
Wisconsin Historical Society standards. They have been working with the State.
2b.) Has the State Historical Society been notified or involved?
N/A The state does not get involved with the historic plaque program.
2c.) Are other organizations or entities involved?
N/A
3.) Are Historic Tax Credits applicable for this item?
No—though the property could be eligible for historic tax credits for future work
since it is a contributing structure.
4.) Does this pertain to municipally-owned structures?
No. The property is privately owned.
5.) What is the Commission priority#for this item?
Ongoing projects such as the historic plaque program are a number 1 priority of the
commission.
5a.) Does the Commission have enough information for action(s)?
The Commission already decided to support the plaque at its July 111h,2018 meeting.
The Commission can decide whether they would support the owner's proposed
wording on the plaque. The owner is proposing that the plaque read as follows:

Discussion Considerations
1.) More research or follow up on Item?
The Commission should decide whether to support the owner's preferred text or
recommend changes. If the Commission recommends changes, staff will inform the
owner. If the Commission supports the text, staff will work with the foundry to put the
plaque into production.
