DELIVERY SERVICES FOR SENIORS
Team: Judy, Claude, y Future State: Seniors have reliable
transportation to where and when they want to go
➢ Continue to determine what is current situation (providers,
committees working on this, costs, gaps in service, etc.)? This is
ever-changing as programs are implemented, merged, discontinued.
• Connect with various transportation providers
• Connect with various health care providers to determine
number of missed appointment due to lack of transportation
• Assess current transportation gaps by collaborating with other
community partners including but not limited to:
❑ East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission
❑ Making the Ride Happen
❑ Winnebago Health Department
❑ Aging and Disability Resource Center
• Identify gaps and use the power of OCOA meetings being
televised / archived by Oshkosh Media to share the information
from the groups already involved
➢ Promote the development of a comprehensive 24/7 transportation
program for seniors and disabled (much of this is currently being
done by the East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission
and Making the Ride Happen)
• Provide a full range of transportation options
• Expand hours of services
❑ Making the Ride Happen will be staffing a centralized
information / referral services for the area
❑ Door to door (Cabulance, Running Inc. do this in
apartment buildings for an added fee)
• Collaborate and strengthen partnerships with existing
transportation providers
• Assist in recruiting volunteer drivers
• Advocate for funding for transportation
• Use the power of OCOA meetings being televised / archived by
Oshkosh Media to communicate with /educate seniors (RISE
UP!) on transportation offerings AND needs to empower
themselves (Greater Mobility Group @ OSC
➢ Identify different types of delivery services benefitting seniors and
how to access them.
• Winnebago County Nutrition Program — home delivered meals
• Prescriptions
o Omro Pharmacy
o HomeTown Pharmacy
• Many local stores have on-line ordering / pick up at the store.
Some allow the customer to remain in their car and bring the
merchandise out while others require the customer to go into
the store.
• Several restaurants not having their own delivery service,
partner with Food Dudes or other delivery services for an added
fee.
