RE: Award Bid to Franklin Equipment for 6" Auto Priming Towable Pump for Stormwater
Division ($38,156.00)
BACKGROUND
The 2018 CIP allocated $47,000.00 for a 6" water pump for the Stormwater Division to include the suction
hose, hose carrying stand, suction strainer, strobe light system and hose baskets. This unit is towed and
is used in emergency flooding issues. The new unit will replace a 1968 Hercules water pump that has
battery issues that are not repairable and make it undependable. The new pump will be self -priming
and have a float system. The new pump will come with warranty and updated emissions.
ANALYSIS
Working with Street Division staff, Purchasing prepared bid specifications for these units. Bids were
due August 8, 2018. The bid tab is attached. Based on the bid review, it was the consensus of City staff
that the low bid with trade met the minimum bid requirements.
FISCAL IMPACT
The fiscal impact for this bid is $38,156.00. The Mechanics Division will install the suction hose carrying
stand and strobe light for an additional cost of approximately $1,800.00, bringing the total fiscal impact
of this unit to $39,956.00. The 2018 CIP allocated $47,000.00 for this unit. This purchase will be charged
to A/N#: 0322-2010-7206-05823.
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends the Common Council award this bid to Franklin Equipment for $38,156.00.
