RE: Award Bid to Ewald Chevrolet Buick for 1/2 Ton 4WD Regular Cab Pickup Truck for
Wastewater Treatment Plant ($40,451.00)
BACKGROUND
The 2018 CIP allocated $45,000.00 for a new 1/2 ton 4WD regular cab pickup truck with equipment for the
Wastewater Treatment Plant. The new unit will replace a 2005 GMC pickup with plow and lift gate that
has over 90,000 miles and is at the end of its service life. The new unit will come with a plow, lift gate,
light system, backup alarm, trailer plugs and bed liner.
ANALYSIS
Working with the Public Works Mechanics Manager, Purchasing prepared bid specifications for this unit.
The bid was posted on Onvia DemandStar. Bids were due October 3, 2018. While bids were received
for both a Ford and Chevrolet truck only the Chevrolet bid met the minimum specifications. The bid tab
is attached. The former unit will be sold at auction after the new unit is received and put into operation.
FISCAL IMPACT
The fiscal impact for the sole bid for this unit is $40,451.00. The 2018 CIP allocated $45,000 for this unit.
The Mechanics Division will be installing seat covers and floor mats in this unit for an additional $450
approximately. This project will be charged to A/N# 0322-1910-7210-05819.
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends the Common Council award this bid to Ewald Chevrolet Buick for $40,451.00.
Respectfully Submitted,
