RE: 2018 City of Oshkosh Sidewalk and Driveway Approach Rehabilitation Program
Location Address: 0000 ELMWOOD AVE
Parcel Number: 05-0382-0000
Dear City of Oshkosh Property Owner/Resident:
The City of Oshkosh has an annual program to inspect and repair defective sidewalk and
driveway approaches. The program rotates through the City on an approximately 10-year
cycle. The property, at the above address, is located within the proposed 2018 rehabilitation
area. The final limits of the program may change based on available funding and the amount of
work needed.
The City's Water Utility staff have begun locating the water curb stops. The Utility marks the
curb stops with blue paint and places a blue "X" on the street or sidewalk to note the location.
Later this fall, a City staff member will walk the program area and preliminarily mark any
defective sidewalk sections and driveway approaches with fluorescent green paint. Staff will
inspect the sidewalk again in the spring to determine if corrective action is needed for the
sidewalk and driveway approaches. Issues that will require repairs include cracks, raising,
settling, or incorrect cross slope.
This letter is being sent to inform you of what the paint markings near your property indicate.
You do not need to take any action at this time. Additional information will be mailed to you in
the spring. The information will include repair options, the City's Contractor's information,
and cost estimates. For reference, the approximate cost to remove and replace a typical 5' x 5'
section of 4" thick sidewalk in 2017 was$140.00.

Property owners occasionally request the City's contractor to do additional work on private
property. The contractor may be willing to perform additional work, but is not obligated to do
private work. Please be aware any construction activity on private property, including
replacement of existing driveways, will likely require a building permit. Please contact the
City's Inspection Services Division at (920)236-4048 to determine if a permit is needed, prior to
having any work performed. It is ultimately the property owner's responsibility to ensure
permits are obtained.
Please contact the Engineering Division at (920)236-5065 with any questions related to this
project.
Sincerely,
i
