HomeMy WebLinkAbout8.23.18 Minutes PUBLIC ARTS AND BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE Minutes August 23,2018 PRESENT: Shirley Brabender-Mattox;Vicky Redlin, Koby Schellenger,Joshua Marquardt STAFF: Alexa Naudziunas, Assistant Planner, Bill Sturm,Parks Department 1. Call to Order Ms. Redlin called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. Ms. Naudziunas introduced the new committee member,Joshua Marquardt. 2. Approval of July 26th 2018 Meeting Minutes Mr. Schellenger made a motion to approve the July 26th 2018 meeting minutes and Ms. Brabender- Mattox seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. 3. Staff Update-Operation Lake Fly Ms. Naudziunas announced that the lake fly sculptures are now on display in a variety locations including the river walk. She showed the committee the lake fly location map. The committee agreed to help promote the new public art project. 4. Mural Ordinance Approval Ms. Naudziunas explained that staff is seeking final comments and a recommendation on the mural ordinance. The committee reviewed the draft of the mural ordinance and Mr. Schellenger made a motion to recommend the ordinance as written and Ms. Brabender-Mattox seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. 5. Committee Plan Development a. Review Survey Results Ms. Naudziunas explained to the committee that through the use of Polco, the committee released a survey to the public regarding art in the city. The survey has been available since mid-July and remains available. There are 176 respondents for the 12 question long survey. The committee would like to leave the survey open for further respondents. The committee plans to help advertise the survey more in the future. b. Review Materials The committee reviewed the draft materials for the plan and offered comments and feedback. The committee discussed Chapter 3 Section 2, Identified Opportunities in the Private Realm. 6. Future Agenda Items Ms. Naudziunas agreed to keep the plan development discussion for the next meeting agenda. Ms. Naudziunas explained that any additional agenda items can be added to the list if she is contacted. 7. Adjournment Ms. Brabender-Mattox made a motion to adjourn and Mr. Marquardt seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously at 4:36 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Alexa Naudziunas Assistant Planner
