SUBJECT: Item 8: 456 Mount Vernon Potential Landmarking/Plaques
1.) Initiated by: Rebecca Brown-Property Owner (456 Mount Vernon)
a.) The item is within the purview of the Commission per the Historic Preservation
Ordinance. Owner wants to add a second plaque to the one Landmarks approved
previously.
2.) Is the item related to an Historic District/contributing,listed individually, Landmarked
or eligible?
The property is not currently contributing or part of an historic district. Discussions
have started regarding landmarking this property. The owner is open to landmarking
the property but wants to better understand the Historic Preservation Ordinance and
finish with the historic plaque program first.
2a.) Does item conform with all Local, State, or other Ordinances, Statutes?
Yes the item would conform with all applicable ordinances.
2b.) Has the State Historical Society been notified or involved?
Not for this project, and likely would not apply.
2c.) Are other organizations or entities involved?
Yes-Terry Laib has done some of the research (presented at the previous July
Landmarks meeting).
3.) Are Historic Tax Credits applicable for this item?
Not at this time.
4.) Is this a municipally-owned structure?
No. Privately-owned.
5.) What is the Commission priority#for this item?
Locally Landmarking is #3 in the Commission's priories.
Historic plaques are ongoing and a#1 priority.
5a.) Does the Commission have enough information for action(s)?
The Commission does have enough to decide whether to approve a second plaque,
but not a submitted application/research to move forward with Landmarking.

Yes-staff follow up with owner.

Yes.

The owner would like to purchase 2 plaques. One would say"William Doe House" and the
other might say"William Waters 1St Design." She is seeking approval from the Landmarks
Commission to move forward with a second plaque in addition to the first one previously
approved.
