Unfortunately, that did not materialize and there are no clear answers as to why. However, Mr.

Larson believes it was a combination of factors that included the exhibition name and the
Museum's inability (by contract) to capitalize on marketing the Lego® pieces. Looking at a
couple of the positive aspects of this exhibition, he reported the JEM grant enabled the Museum
to significantly advance its brand and raise its overall profile throughout the region and beyond.
Combined marketing efforts, led by Google and Facebook, reached an astounding 1.3 million
impressions. This type of exposure is very hard to achieve today due to high cost, and people's
exposure to an excess of information. Replay marketing created a level of name recognition
beyond the community, and we think this will help the Museum during future projects and
efforts.
As an update regarding For Home & Country, Mr. Larson reported this exhibition is on track to
open June 17. It presents a compelling storyline in an interactive manner that, among other
features, utilizes community voices. With a maximum of $5,000 allocated for this exhibition the
creative elements, story lines, and items from Museum collections are being brought together in
an intriguing way. Also of note, the Museum developed a cooperative admission agreement
with the Paine Art Center. Through this agreement, both institutions are offering reduced
admission to those visiting both museums. A $2 savings per admission to the second museum
visited.
In conclusion, Mr. Larson was pleased to report that the Oshkosh Public Museum has been
selected as a 2018 Award of Merit winner by the American Association of Museum's Leadership
in History committee for People of the Waters. The Museum's nomination was selected through
three levels of scrutiny (state, regional, national), and that reflects highly on the exhibitions
content, design, interpretation and overall quality. The Museum will capitalize on this honor in
many ways; for example, to illustrate our level of professionalism in future grant applications.
The award will be formally conveyed on September 28. That concluded the Director's Report.
On behalf of the Museum, President Hoffman expressed great appreciation to Mr. Stan Mack for
his years of service on the Museum Board. Mr. Mack's consistency of support and ideas have
played an important part of the Museum's progress through the years. Mr. Mack expressed his
enjoyment of partnering the school district with the Museum and serving the Museum in this
capacity. Mr. Hoffman then introduced the new Auxiliary president, Kathy Wuest. Kathy has
been an Auxiliary member for many years and is now serving in the capacity of president. In
conclusion, Mr. Hoffman introduced and welcomed new Alternate to the Board, Joseph "Joe'
Stephenson.
No Board member statements were submitted.
