The address at 415 Linde St (formerly 49 Linde Ave) first appeared in Bunn's City Directory of
Oshkosh 1908 and listed Charles C. Konrad as the resident. Although the Oshkosh City
Assessors website lists the home's construction year as 1910, Scott Cross from the Oshkosh
Public Library checked the city tax rolls and found that Charles C. Konrad purchased the
property in 1906. Penciled in next to the record of purchase was an indication that new
structures were to be taxed. The 1907 record then has the taxed structures listed. This would
indicate that the home was constructed in late 1906.
The home was built by Jerome Miller. Miller
worked as a carpenter for a number of local
builders in the city before he went off on his own
as a self employed contractor and builder for a
short period of time. The Bunn's Oshkosh
Directory 1903-4 listed him as a carpenter for J.
' a T. Raycraft Company in Oshkosh. For a short
period of time (1904-1905) Jerome Miller and
01 a
Peter L. Peterson formed a partnership called
"Miller& Peterson", but it lasted about a year until
x7 the partnership dissolved and the two ran
separate contracting/building businesses.'

The Konrad home was purchase by William N.
and Ada Lennon in the early 1930s.' Lennon
owned and operated Lennon Bros Groceries
on Main Street in Oshkosh. His career in the
grocery business started in 1915 when he and
a business partner started a grocery store on
Wisconsin Avenue. William's brother Raymond
bought out partner's share of the business and
together they formed "Lennon Brothers." As
the business flourished the brothers moved
their store to expand their operation. They
eventually ended up in a building on the 400
block of Main Street that once stood on the
vacant lot south of present day Gardina's Wine
Bar& Cafe.$ Lennon Bros Groceries was one
I of the biggest locally owned grocery stores in
Oshkosh when it closed in 1959.9
The 415 Linde house was occupied by 3
generations of Lennons from about 1931 to
2014; William N. &Ada Lennon, William D. &
` Gloria Lennon, and Daniel and Jean Lennon.
