Update on fare study Nick Musson Jim Collins introduced Nick Musson, of East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission. Nick explained transit is funded through fares, city/county tax subsides, and state/federal grants. He told that in recent years the state and federal funding have decreased, forcing the local share to increase. Nick also pointed out that fare box revenue dropped from $205,912.59 in 2011 to $129,958.70 in 2017. He said the steering committee, made up of a diverse group of stakeholders, believes additional funding is needed to continue to provide the current level of service. He explained that the cost maintain/replace buses is expensive. Mike Norton said he opposed the elimination of the 3 month pass. Nick explained a formal recommendation has not been made on fares and once one is that the TRAB will have an opportunity to review/comment and vote. There was discussion about shortening the length of time a transfer is valid and also the possibility of eliminating transfers rather than raising fares.
