Update on
heavy duty bus
procurement
Jim Collins
Jim Collins told our seven buses are slated to start on the production line
in Anniston, Alabama by the end of April with delivery expected by the
end of June. He said our lead mechanic will be there for a couple weeks
inspecting the buses as they are being built and the maintenance
manager will do the final inspection.
Update on fare
study Nick Musson
Jim Collins introduced Nick Musson, of East Central Wisconsin Regional
Planning Commission. Nick explained transit is funded through fares,
city/county tax subsides, and state/federal grants. He told that in recent
years the state and federal funding have decreased, forcing the local
share to increase. Nick also pointed out that fare box revenue dropped
from $205,912.59 in 2011 to $129,958.70 in 2017. He said the steering
committee, made up of a diverse group of stakeholders, believes
additional funding is needed to continue to provide the current level of
service. He explained that the cost maintain/replace buses is expensive.

Update on Fare
Study
Continued
Nick Musson
He told the steering committee favored raising the cash fare to $1.50,
monthly passes to $35.00 and eliminating the 3 month pass. Mike Norton
said he opposed the elimination of the 3 month pass. Nick explained a
formal recommendation has not been made on fares and once one is that
the TRAB will have an opportunity to review/comment and vote.
There was discussion about shortening the length of time a transfer is
valid and also the possibility of eliminating transfers rather than raising
fares. Nick Musson said he would look into this further and report back
with the recommendations.
Compliment Mike Norton Mike Norton said GO Transit did a commendable job to remain in service
over the weekend during the record heavy snowfall.
