MEETING MINUTES, October 24, 2017

Bob C. called the meeting to order at 3:31 pm.
Consent Items
• Approval of September 26, 2017 Minutes: Vicki moved to accept the minutes as written; Bob k
seconded. All in favor, motion carried to accept the minutes as written.
Informational Topics:
• Evan Bremberger, Activities Coordinator stated he has been an employee for 2 years and is in
charge of all social activities. Oktoberfest includes dinner sponsored by The Roxy,a lady from the
cemetery discussing Graveyard Tours, Oshkosh Memorabilia Club and the Car Show. Vet Day will
be a Military Tribute on November 16t",with a spaghetti lunch,Vet cost is 0 and guest is$5, Evan
will be cooking the spaghetti; Eat and Greet will be on the 26t", chili will be served and the movie
will be Lion; November Eat and Greet will be stew, December will not have an Eat and Greet;
Senior Connects will include 6 Thursdays, this is seniors connecting with Oshkosh North High
School students for one on one technology training and then they develop a relationship as well.
Programs are being entered for 2018 and program evaluations are being set up.
Discussion Items:
• In the afternoon of October 31St Jean will meet with Council to discuss the budget. Jean explained
the biggest change will regarding the fitness and exercise programs and the insurance
reimbursement. To have the insurance based program a participant will be 65 years of age.
Exercise and Fitness will be combined and no longer separate payments. Looking at possible
extension of hours, being open from 6-7pm. Changes with adding tax to various things will be
taking place more as we are considered a recreation facility. As of December 1St the Center will
be accepting Silver & Fit as an additional insurance reimbursement plan. Network Select will no
longer be accepting Silver Sneakers,you can upgrade to Premier for$22 per month and that plan
will cover it. 2018 waivers will be available in mid-December. Green Bay YMCA has dropped all
insurance reimbursement health programs. Silver Sneakers will bring in $2.50 per visit up to 8
visits; Silver and Fit $3.50 per visit up to 10 visits and Optum $4 per visit up to 10 visits. Jean
stressed the importance of checking in so the Center can get the reimbursements.
• Fitness programs classes will be increased and include the movement class.
Governance Report: no report
Health Report:
• Bob K.stated that Sleep Fairwill be the next program, hoping to be held in March and may include
presenters from Affinity.
Committee on Aging Report:
• Jean stated the meetings will start being televised in December and will be taped not live.
Members are gathering information and working on the Strategic Plan in groups.
Friends Report:
• Judy stated that the Strategic Plan for FOSC will start tonight and continue to November. The
FOSC are looking for members. Food Truck Friday contracts are in the works. The will be held on
the 3rd Fridays of June,July and August of 2018. Bob K. state concerns regarding problems of not
hearing the band outside of the pavilion. Judy stated that there will be changes made next year
with set up and will include speakers out of the pavilion. Live Bands will be performing for all 3
events. So far 2 are under contract,the Del Ray's will not be playing next year. Appeal letter will
be going out beginning of November to participants and friends. If you receive the newsletter
your$25 donation is not tax deductible; if you donate more or do not receive the newsletter the
extra amount will be tax deductible. Tours 2018 trips will be featured in the newsletter. January
31 at 1 pm FOSC will hold their Annual Appeal, election of officers, review of 2017, slideshow of
supporters and refreshments. In March will be the Town Hall meeting and will be reviewing the
financials.
Chairman's Report: no report
Presentation/Name Change: on Hold
Manager's Report:
• Senior Expo went well. Jean thanked Scott and Mary for their help. She stated there were about
500 seniors and 75 vendors, next year will not run as long. Nancy expressed how impressed she
was with the speaker at noon and that it was very informative.
• City Hall will be implementing their new software, so we will need to have all of our financials
turned in by December.
• Jean passed out a snapshot of how the future fitness area will look like after remodeling is
complete. New flooring will be added in the front and rubber flooring in the back, lockers, hooks
and an area to change your shoes. Treadmills will face the walls because of the clearance that is
needed; looking at adding 4 more machines to the Life Fitness equipment. The front of Campbell
creek will be for seminars and speakers and will have a television. The goal is January, Randy is
starting to paint walls.
• DACC will be here Friday the 27t", woodshop has made great changes. A volunteer is taking the
lead on making a handbook.
• Adding same class 2 times a day as the morning exercise class cannot handle anymore
participants.
• Leadership Oshkosh had a presentation on Menominee Arena, maybe have the presentation here
in the Willows for viewing.
