MEETING MINUTES, May 30, 2017
PRESENT: Bob Kolinski, Bruce Abraham, Mary Kirsch, Bev Mallon, Bob Cornell, Vicki Leichtfuss, Wendy

Bob called the meeting to order at 3:34 pm.
Informational Topics:
a. Food Truck Friday will be June 16, July 14 and August 11; if you would like to volunteer contact
Judy Brewer, FOSC President.
Discussion Items
Consent Items
• Approval of April 25, 2017 Minutes: Gary moved to accept the minutes as written. Vicki
seconded. Motion carried to accept minutes as written.
Reports:
Governance Report: Bob C. explained there were 12 members on the board 7 were ineligible for officer
positions. Three of the newest members would be eligible in January to serve as an officer. Vicki moved
to nominate Bob C. as Chair from June through December 2017 and then Mary K. would be chair from
January through May 2018. Bruce seconded. Any nomination from the floor was read (3) three times,
hearing no other nominations, motion was carried. Bruce nominated Vicki for Vice-Chair. Mary K.
seconded. Any nominations was read (3)three times, hearing no other nominations, motion was carried.
Health Report:
Committee on Aging Report: Xandy stated that the focus groups regarding the strategic planning was
going well. They had a meeting with Department Heads and another with seniors. They will meet one
more time in June for a five hour session.
Friends Report: Sandy stated that the Finance committee for FOSC is making huge strides and will be very
transparent.
Presentation/Name Change: on Hold

Gary moved to adjourn. Bruce seconded. Meeting adjourned at 4:17 pm.

Managers' Report to the Advisory Board
Program:
Volunteer Dinner coming up in May/Sock hop. Brings socks for Christine Ann Center
Spaghetti Dinner May 25/74 people attended
Art sale/Woodshop and Warmers-successful for each group
Tech will be done with classes May 22. They have donated tables, a felt board and an ironing board
Meeting with Craig Biwer from L W Oshkosh Professor in Kinesiology joined programs to come
Wellness survey completed. Results with your minutes
Newsletter added pages-will be in July newsletter
Facility:
Security System in South Building completed
Treadmill maintenance plan for four treadmills to be budgeted for
Budget:
Anne and I are meeting about a grant from the Packer Foundation that targets seniors
$1500 grant from Omni Glass for woodshop;new saw and paint
Starting to work on budget proposals for the Friends
Staff will begin meeting weekly to go over budget. Start from City Hall in mid-July and back to Ray by
beginning of August
Operations:
Fitness insurance reimbursement plans for 2018
National Accreditation hopefully in 2019 budget/Advisory Committee to assist in process
POS is now implemented. Food, Promotional items, copies, faxes, art and woodshop items are taxed.
Wendy asked what being Nationally Accredited would mean for the Center. Jean responded that it would
put the organization on the right path, helps with grants and image shows the Center would be a healthy
organization. The cost is$1500 and there are four Senior Centers located in Wisconsin that are Nationally
Accredited. Jean will bring in a list of topics to next meeting.
Bob C. asked if the Center will be getting an intern for fall. Jean explained that many are placed already
so we have a 50/50 chance. After speaking with Craig from UWO the Center may partner with their
department and have our seniors have fitness assessments completed there. Another class discussed was
to have a panel of seniors with students asking questions regarding seniors' health. (ie.. knee
replacements etc.)
Board Members that are leaving the Board were acknowledged and gave their thanks and support to the
new members coming in. Bruce gave thanks to Cynthia and Bob for all the time and for stepping up when
needed. Members leaving include: Bruce Abraham 2 year term; Gary Konrad 6 years; Cynthia Thorpe 6
years last 2 years as Chair; Mary Wiedenmeier 4 years.
