EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Update on Buckstaff/Arena property:Construction continues on site and is reported to
be on schedule.The City recently opened and awarded bids for the infrastruct ure work
around the arena. Construction on the streets, utilities and signals started in late July
and continue on schedule. The site contamination within some of the right-of-way is
not as bad as feared and the city may realize some cost savings.
Update on Healthy Neighborhood Initiative:
1017 Bowen Street house –Closing is scheduled for October 3, 2017.
Staff continues to search for additional rehabilitation projects.
Update in South Shore Redevelopment Area:
Morgan District –The City received bids on the first half of the Morgan District
riverwalk and the bids were excellent. The City should now be able to finish the
riverwalk from Boatworks to the Oregon Street bridge with the help of an $800,000
WisDNR grant and TIF funds. Construction will start this fall and be completed in
2018. This final segment of the riverwalk through the Morgan District should finish
about $1 million dollars under budget and about a year ahead of schedule.
Staff will be looking at the Pioneer Drive segment as the next riverwalk section to obtain
permits, easements and funding for 2019 construction.
Pioneer Area –Mr.Art Dumke continues to work with City staff to explore multiple
development options and funding scenarios.
The Granary –The Plan Commission and City Council approved the site plans, TIF
Plan and Development Agreement for the site.Construction of the parking lot is
underway that is supporting the rehabilitation of the Granary.The Granary
rehabilitation should be complete by the end of the year.
South Main Street parcels –Staff has proposed remediation funding in the proposed
2018 Capital Improvement Program.
Update on Marion & Pearl Redevelopment Area:
Jackson/Marion Parcel:Mr. Andy Dumke continues to develop more specific building
and site plans. He is also working on tenant occupancy and a financing plan.His
option expires on September 20, 2018.
Jackson/Pearl Parcel:Mr. Jeff Fullbright continues to work on the brewery project. His
option expires at the end of 2017.
