Attendees: Absent: Jim Collins, Transportation Director Evelyn Meuret, Board Diane Lowe, Board David Vickman, Coordinator Mike Norton, Board Marlene Binder, Secretary Stefanie Steinfort, Board Caroline Panske, Chairman Lee Williams, Board Troy Monday, Vice-Chair Topic Facilitator Discussion Actions Meeting Started Caroline Panske Caroline Panske called the meeting to order at 4:10 p.m. Accept meeting minutes Troy Monday Acceptance of March 17, 2017 TAB meeting minutes. 1st: Mike Norton 2nd: Troy Monday Bus tablet Presentation David Vickman David Vickman explained that GO Transit began installing tablets on the buses in February and completed installation in March of this year. He showed the button counter and trip sheet that was previously used to track passenger counts. He told that information from the trip sheet would then be entered into a database program called eXpressTransit. He said the tablet replaces these methods. David stated the tablet contained a GPS sensor and that dispatch can see exactly where the buses are on a map from the office. He conveyed that an app for passengers is in the works. Topic Facilitator Discussion Actions Bus tablet Presentation Continued David Vickman David Vickman said feedback about the tablets was positive and he believes the improved efficiency allows drivers more time to assist passengers at the Transit Center. TDP Update Jim Collins Jim Collins passed out a handout with the TDP priorities identified. He stated that as many high priority items as possible would be addressed in the plan. He added that he will keep the Board informed. Bus Procurement Jim Collins Jim Collins said the state should have signed contracts from the vendors by the end of next week. Jim said the aging fleet recently has had some mechanical problems, two hybrids have issues and the two 2003 buses have had engine failure. He told a rebuilt engine is currently being installed on one 2003 bus, the other is being sidelined and not repaired, the issue with the two hybrids have been identified and parts are being rebuilt for them. He said hopefully 3 of the 4 buses are fixed before EAA. He stated one bus down shouldn’t effect service. Topic Facilitator Discussion Action Shelter update Jim Collins Jim Collins explained that the Legal Department is drafting easements because we do not own the property at the county building or the high schools where the shelters are being proposed. Future Agenda Items Caroline Panske Caroline would like information about our severe weather policy and the summer library program. She also requested an update on the electric bus grant application.
