Bus tablet
Presentation
David
Vickman
David Vickman explained that GO Transit began installing tablets on
the buses in February and completed installation in March of this
year. He showed the button counter and trip sheet that was
previously used to track passenger counts. He told that information
from the trip sheet would then be entered into a database program
called eXpressTransit. He said the tablet replaces these methods.
David stated the tablet contained a GPS sensor and that dispatch
can see exactly where the buses are on a map from the office. He
conveyed that an app for passengers is in the works.

David
Vickman
David Vickman said feedback about the tablets was positive and he
believes the improved efficiency allows drivers more time to assist
passengers at the Transit Center.
TDP Update Jim Collins
Jim Collins passed out a handout with the TDP priorities identified. He
stated that as many high priority items as possible would be addressed in
the plan. He added that he will keep the Board informed.
Bus
Procurement Jim Collins
Jim Collins said the state should have signed contracts from the vendors by
the end of next week.
Jim said the aging fleet recently has had some mechanical problems, two
hybrids have issues and the two 2003 buses have had engine failure. He
told a rebuilt engine is currently being installed on one 2003 bus, the other
is being sidelined and not repaired, the issue with the two hybrids have
been identified and parts are being rebuilt for them. He said hopefully 3 of
the 4 buses are fixed before EAA. He stated one bus down shouldn’t effect
service.
