Questions ? AUGUST 8, 2017 4 GREATER , ECONOMIC OSHK SHCORPORATIONNT I AirVenture 2017 Debrief OVERVIEW: Greater Oshkosh EDC maintained at least two team members on site at AirVenture 2017 from Sunday,July 23 — Sunday,July 30.The team at Greater Oshkosh also had dozens of educational and impactful conversations throughout the week at AirVenture.AirVenture 2017 broke attendance records and the exhibitors appeared very positive about their week here in Oshkosh. This event annually provides an opportunity to highlight and underscore the assets of our community. We also must remember when prospecting at AirVenture, the more than Boo exhibitors that come to AirVenture are not here to listen to a pitch from someone else, they are here to makes sales.True post-AirVenture networking requires outreach efforts the other 51 weeks of the year through advertising campaigns and networking activities. A handful of aviation businesses, large and small, were interested in coming to Oshkosh to assist in Initiative 41 grant activities that are required under our contract with the City of Oshkosh. These interactions and development of relationships will also allow for a stronger conversation to be had regarding potential interest in Oshkosh as a place to do business.Working collaboratively with the City, Greater Oshkosh will complete DoD grant initiatives to formulate Additive Manufacturing and MRO clusters, promote Talent Recruitment and best practices seminars over the next 16 months. More than a couple times during the week the Greater Oshkosh team was asked why the Aviation Business Park isn't airport accessible yet, as pledged at AirVenture 2o16,when we told prospects and the aviation media that it would be by spring 2017. Most notably, the team was asked this by a leading aviation publication, as well as by a leading aviation manufacturer. The greatest need coming out of AirVenture 2017 related to continued business prospecting is for the County to commit to a timeline for development of a spur from taxiway Alpha to the Aviation Business Park. This request was made of Winnebago County and its Aviation Committee in April 2017 and one has not yet been developed. The taxiway and ramp development can be done as construction is underway for the first tenant, but if there is no development showing that the park will be airport accessible and that the county is serious about making the Aviation Business Park successful, then the park will continue to have little serious interest. Although developing the spur may seem like something minor, this development shows the county's ability to provide what is needed for businesses and support of said businesses. With no movement,it speaks volumes about Winnebago County's support of its employers, or lack thereof. GR EATER ECONOMIC OSH DEVELOPENK9 H CORPORATION? Echoing our Business Retention&Expansion efforts,we have concerns that some of the current tenants at Wittman Regional Airport do not feel like their needs and concerns are being considered. For our Aviation Business Park prospecting efforts to be successful,we need Oshkosh's aviation business community to serve as advocates —but this is less possible unless the goals and objectives of the current aviation business base are in line with the airport's vision. ONGOING PROMOTIONAL PLANS IN DEVELOPMENT: • Booth at AirVenture 2018 o Initiative 41 Grant/41 Corridor Partners, promoting all of New North airports o Others who have booths: ■ Oklahoma (run by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce) ■ Virginia ■ Milwaukee (promoting commercial travel/FBO services) • Year-round industry targeted advertising o Builds year-round awareness vs promoting once a year during AirVenture ■ UAS industry magazines ■ Aviation/aerospace industry magazines TARGETED PROSPECTING: IMMEDIATE NEEDS: City Side ofABP: Timeline for spur from Taxiway Alpha to Aviation Business Park. • UAS o Ok if no taxiway or ramp • Avionics until prospect, but need a • Additive Manufacturing timeline for Alpha to County Side of ABP: Aviation Business Park. • MRO Positive relationship building with • Manufacturers/Service Centers current Wittman Regional Airport • Companies with airport accessible tenants. needs Attending the following upcoming tradeshows: National Business Aviation Convention& Expo, October 10-12, 2017 MRO Americas,April 10-12, 2018 8/3/2017 A CITY READY FOR TAKEOFF Locate your business on one of the world's most recognizable airports.
