Rohloff, City Manager DATE: July 20, 2017 RE: Amendment to Agreement for Archaeological Investigations for 2017 Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) / University of Wisconsin -Milwaukee (UWM) ($40,000) An agreement was executed on December 29, 2016 with the University of Wisconsin -Milwaukee for archaeological investigations related to the 2017 CIP. During the course of the investigations, one of the City's projects, Contract 17-04, was identified as adjacent to a known archaeological site. While construction on City Contract 17-04 was proceeding, the University provided onsite monitoring services. During the construction monitoring, several items were uncovered. These items included pieces of pottery and cookware in addition to some human remains. The amendment includes the additional services that are required for the additional monitoring, analysis, excavation, and management of the remains. Staff has reviewed the amendment and the costs. The amount of this amendment is not to exceed $40,000. This will raise the total agreement amount to $60,000. These costs will be split among the Street Paving, Storm Water, Water, and Sanitary Sewer CIP sections. Funding is budgeted in all four sections of the 2017 CIP.
