HomeMy WebLinkAbout11. 17-307 JUNE 27, 2017 17-307 RESOLUTION (CARRIED 7-0 LOST LAID OVER WITHDRAWN ) PURPOSE: APPROVE PURCHASE OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL EQUIPMENT FROM TAPCO FOR THE BOWEN AND MURDOCK RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT 17-05 ($39,095.40) INITIATED BY: PURCHASING WHEREAS, the City has allocated funds in 2017 CIP for the Bowen and Murdock Street Reconstruction Project the purchase traffic signal equipment; and WHEREAS, TAPCO is the City's standardized supplier for all traffic signal equipment; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed pursuant to Section 12-11 of the Oshkosh Municipal Code to purchase traffic signal equipment for the Bowen and Murdock Reconstruction Project from: TAPCO 5100 West Brown Deer Road Brown Deer, WI 53223 Total: $39,095.40 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter into an appropriate agreement for the purpose of same. Urben, General Services Manager DATE: June 20, 2017 RE: Approve Purchases of Traffic Signal Equipment to TAPCO for the Bowen and Murdock Reconstruction Project 17-05 ($39,095.40) BACKGROUND The Common Council allocated funds in 2017 CIP for the Bowen and Murdock Street Reconstruction Project which includes paving, sidewalks, driveways and utilities for the north and west sides. As part of this project the City's Electric Division is to purchase and supply the traffic signal equipment to ensure compliance with the City's traffic signal standards. Installation of the equipment will be coordinated by the electrical subcontractor for the project. ANALYSIS Electric Division staff secured a proposal for the requirement equipment for this project from TAPCO, the standardized supplier for the City's traffic signal equipment. FISCAL IMPACT The total costs for the traffic signal equipment for this project is $39,095.40, which has been budgeted within the $135,000.00 allocated in the 2017 CIP Traffic Improvements- Street Reconstruction project. Costs for the equipment will be charged to A/N# 323-0801-6542-06746. RECOMMENDATION Section 12-11 of the Municipal Code provides that subject to approval of the City Manager, purchases may be made without following a formal competitive bidding process when the purchase is from only one source of supply or when standardization or compatibility is the overriding consideration. In accordance with Section 12-11 of the Municipal Code and with approval by the City Manager, Purchasing recommends the Common Council approve this purchase from TAPCO, 5100 West Brown Deer Road, Brown Deer, WI 53223, in the amount of $39,095.40.
