FOR STORM SEWER LATERALS / VARIOUS LOCATIONS ($333,473.00) INITIATED BY: PUBLIC WORKS DIVISION WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh has heretofore advertised for bids for storm sewer laterals /various locations; and WHEREAS, upon the opening and tabulation of bids, it appears that the following is the most advantageous bid: WOOD SEWER & EXCAVATING, INC. E9238 County Road X New London, WI 54961 Total Bid: $333,473.00 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the said bid is hereby accepted and the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter into an appropriate agreement for the purpose of same, all according to plans, specifications, and bid on file. No. 317-0410-7480-03305 Special Assessments Fund — Storm Water r,A cry of Oshkosh MEMORANDUM TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of theC on Council FROM: James Rabe, Director of Public Works DATE: June 22, 2017 RE: Award Bid for Public Works Contract No. 17-20 Storm Sewer Laterals / Various Locations Wood Sewer and Excavating, Inc. / ($333,473.00) BACKGROUND The purpose of this project is to construct mini storm sewers and storm sewer laterals at various locations around the City. Properties include those who have requested a storm sewer lateral, and adjacent properties where minimal additional work is required to install a lateral. The laterals allow the property owner to discharge sump pump water to the storm sewer system versus the ground surface. Sump pump discharges to ground surfaces can create standing water issues in the summer and ice in the winter on sidewalks and streets. ANALYSIS Engineering staff reviewed the four bids received. The low bid was received from Wood Sewer and Excavating, Inc. of New London, Wisconsin. The total bid is $333,473. FISCAL IMPACT Funding for the project is in the 2017 Capital Improvement Program. Following is a summary of the available funds and the construction costs including engineering fees. Property owners are assessed for the storm lateral per the Special Assessment Policy.
