Architectural significance – style or architect
Historic, political, economic or social relevance
How does it get designated? See Section (F) (2) a-d
1. Commission public hearing to make a recommendation to Plan Commission.
2. Plan Commission reviews proposed designation to make recommendation to Common
Council.
3. Common Council can designate in ordinance form.

Roofs

Review Process for alternation or new construction – Landmarks, Districts or Thematic
Groups - See Section (K) (1) a-e
1. Review Criteria in section H.
2. Pre-Application Conference – staff person and applicant confer.
3. Application Submittal – application for alteration submitted to staff.
4. Application Review – reviewed by staff, staff can approve, approve with conditions or
refer to commission.
5. Notice of staff decision – within 5 days mail notice and Certificate of Consistency to
applicant.
6. If Inconsistent with ordinance (H) applicant can begin appeals process.
a) Commissions holds public hearing – applicant can present case
b) Commission makes decision on application – approve, approve with conditions
or delay
c) Applicant may appeal decision through the Common Council only if they are
delayed.
