TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Trena Larson, Finance Director DATE: 05/04/17 RE: Approve Participation in International City Management Association Retirement Corporation (ICMA-RC) 401 Government profit sharing plan BACKGROUND As part of the City Manager evaluation process each year, the compensation and benefit package is reevaluated annually. In the 2016 evaluation it was determined that City should offer an additional incentive to provide an incentive for the City Manager to remain with the City. ANALYSIS To administer this new incentive the City has chosen to establish what is referred to as a 401 Government profit sharing plan with International City Management Association Retirement Corporation (ICMA-RC). The establishment this profit-sharing retirement plan will benefit City Manager by providing funds for retirement and funds for employee beneficiaries in the event of death. FISCAL IMPACT There will not be any fees associated with the administration of this account for the City. Funds have been budgeted to fund the city's participation in this plan, which will be $5,000 annually through 2020. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends adoption of the above noted resolution.
