Brown Deer Road Bayside, WI 53217 Phone: (414) 533-5398 / Email: director@birdcitywisconsin.org / Web: www.birdcitywisconsin.org (Double-sided to save paper) April 16, 2017 Elizabeth Williams P.O. Box 1130 215 Church Ave. Oshkosh, WI 54903 Dear Ms. Williams: On behalf of myself and Bird City Wisconsin’s Steering Committee, I would like to congratulate Oshkosh on again achieving High Flyer status in the Bird City Wisconsin program. Bird City communities are at the forefront of efforts to forge a statewide coalition of citizens and public officials who recognize that birds are more than beautiful - they are significant. High Flyers go above and beyond in their conservation and education actions, and Bird City Wisconsin truly appreciates all that you do to make your community and the State of Wisconsin better places for birds … and people. Thank you! With the recent recognition of Osceola and Sturgeon Bay, Bird City Wisconsin has now grown to 101 communities. Across the country, people are taking note of the tremendous impact that Bird City Wisconsin is having: there are programs following in our footsteps in Indiana and Minnesota and additional efforts being planned in Iowa and Texas. I am also happy to report that we are discussing the potential for a national or international Bird City program. The expansion of the Bird City model beyond Wisconsin’s borders is the result of the outstanding success that Bird City Wisconsin programs are having in your communities, success that is a testament to your dedication and hard work. A hard copy of this recognition letter, a new insert for your plaque, and new decals for your street signs will be mailed to you in the very near future. We have changed the decals for the signs so that they no longer need to be updated annually; full instructions will be included in the renewal packet. We are also happy to announce the upcoming release of revised Bird City criteria, so please also be on the lookout for those in the coming weeks. We ask that you share news of your renewal with local media and encourage you to include it in your IMBD promotions and celebrations as well as on community documents and websites. Feel free to use Bird City’s logo to promote your community – and let me know if you would like a digital copy. Please also consider other ways that we can help you achieve public recognition for your accomplishments, or any other way that we might be able to assist you. As always, feel free to contact me with your thoughts at director@birdcitywisconsin.org. I would like to briefly tell you about Bird City’s new partnership with Birds & Beans Coffee (www.birdsandbeans.com).
