SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY BOARD

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. and a quorum was declared present.
PUBLIC COMMENT
No public comment was received.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES, FEBRUARY 6, 2017
Motion by Mr. Blassingame and second by Mr. Kalmbach to approve minutes as written.
Motion carried (5-0).
UW-OSHKOSH SENIOR SEMINAR PROJECT – SAB/COMMON COUNCIL
WORKSHOP DATE
Ms. Williams provided an update on the UW-Oshkosh project to be completed by students in the
Environmental Studies program as their senior project. Ms. Williams proposed the two dates of
April 3rd and May 9th as potential dates for student presentations to the SAB and Common
Council members. The date would also serve as a date for a joint workshop with the students,
SAB, and Common Council members. The May date would occur after the students have
wrapped up their projects. After discussion Mr. Blassingame, Mr. Turner, and Ms. Bodgen
Muetzel proposed the April 3rd date at 6 pm for the student presentations and workshop. The
SAB agreed to invite Council to their April 3rd meeting.
RESOLUTION: GREEN TIER LEGACY COMMUNITIES PROGRAM (ACTION
REQUIRED)
Mr. Wiley presented information on the process of Oshkosh joining the WI Green Tier Legacy
Communities program. The Common Council would need to pass a resolution to join the
program and staff / board members would work together to complete the Sustainability
Strategies Scoresheet. The City would submit the Resolution and completed Scoresheet to the
DNR. Quarterly meetings and annual reporting are commitments upon attaining membership in
the program. Mr. Blassingame moved to recommend the resolution for Common Council
consideration and Mr. Turner seconded. The motion carried (5-0).
URBAN BEEKEEPING ORDINANCE (ACTION REQUIRED)
Ms. Williams requested input on the proposed Beekeeping Ordinance as it was written. The
board engaged in discussion to revise portions of the ordinance. Mr. Blassingame moved to
approve the ordinance as revised and Ms. Bogden Muetzel seconded. The motion carried (5-0).
STATUS OF 2017 SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY BOARD GOALS
Chair Davey explained which items the Board had completed on its list of goals for this year and
which goals were in progress. Ms. Williams updated the board on the items City staff would
handle.

Status of the Green Tier Legacy Communities process
Update on the Urban Beekeeping ordinance
Status of the Website updates (number of website hits report)

Chair Davey reminded the Board of the next meeting.

Motion by Mr. Blassingame and seconded by Mr. Turner to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried
(5-0). Meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
