Please see attached information regarding Glide N.E.W. LLC., who wishes to begin offering guided Segway tours in Oshkosh. City Staff has contacted Best Western Premier Waterfront Hotel operators as well as Becke Restaurant operators regarding this request. Both businesses support allowing the Segways. Park staff recommends approval of the use of Segways on the Fox River Riverwalk. 2.Approve Use of Segways on City of Oshkosh Park Paths The Board will discuss and possibly recommend allowing use of Segways on City of Oshkosh park paths. driven on a road, sidewalk or bicycle path. Please see attached e-mail from Jim Collins, Director of Transportation for the City of Oshkosh, with further details regarding Wisconsin Statute. Park staff recommends approval of the use of Segways on City of Oshkosh park paths. 3.Approve Placement of Lake Fly Art Along the Fox River Riverwalk The Board will discuss and possibly recommend placement of Lake Fly Art along the Fox River Riverwalk. City staff has been working with Mayor Cummings and interested citizens on a public art display. The idea of portraying the lake fly in a positive, yet whimsical manner came about after local officials attended a conference where it was discussed how other communities had taken a negative issue from the community and put a positive spin on the issue. Please see the attached rendering of the lake fly sculpture that is intended to be used in this project as well as a flyer with additional information. The art work will be displayed on pedestals and sit At the February 23 meeting of the Public Arts and Beautification Committee, the committee rd recommended approval of the project and placement of the Lake Fly Art. Park staff has expressed concerns about vandalism if placed in a public setting. As part of the project a maintenance fund will be established to assist with future maintenance. Park Staff recommends approval of this project after thorough discussions. Staff from the Planning Division will be in attendance to provide further information on the project.
