To: City of Oshkosh City Manager Mark Rohloff and Common Council From: Shelly Reinke,Program Director,GO-HNI Date: February 23,2011 RE: GO-HN12016Year End Production Report GO-HNI is pleased to submit this report which summarizes our progress toward the production targets outlined in our agreement which commenced on or about May 24,2016.We would like to extend our sincere thanks for your support as GO-HNI and the City of Oshkosh work together in pursuit of Healthy Neighborhoods in Oshkosh. Capacity Building In September,four Board members and one staff attended a full day training session titled"Purposeful Boards,Powerful Fundraising."GO-HNI participants gained valuable knowledge that we have shared with the full Board of Directors at each of our monthly meetings.Three priorities have been set that the Board will work on throughout 2011.They are:1)Ensure adequate resources;2)Enhance the organization's public standing;and 3) Recruit and orient new Board members and assess Board performance. In October,2016 two resident leaders from the Sawyer Creek neighborhood began participating in a four-part resident leadership training series.This training was rooted in the principles of Asset Based Community Development(ABCD)and was created,taught,and hosted by a partnership between Neighborhood Partners,Goodwill of North Central WI,East Central Wisconsin Regional Plan Commission,UW Extension,the City of Oshkosh,and GO-HNI.Resident participants from six neighborhoods across the Fox Valley region learned the fundamentals of relational organizing,neighborhood leadership,asset mapping,and action planning.It is our hope that this training will be offered annually,with supplemental learning opportunities offered quarterly throughout the year. Community Buildiniz&Enizaizement GO-HNI provides support and assistance to 13 recognized Oshkosh neighborhood associations.We continue to staff monthly meetings of the Oshkosh Healthy Neighborhood Alliance,and in December elected Dennis Kavanaugh of the Menominee South Neighborhood as our 2011 Chair. Sharma Her,of the newly formed North Park Neighborhood,volunteered to serve as the 2011 Co-Chair/2018 Chair-elect. Neighborhood Associations continue to come up with creative ideas to build a stronger sense of community in their neighborhoods and promote the Oshkosh community as a great place to live,work,play,and learn.For the first time,several neighborhood associations util ized their entire allocation of CB&E funding,resulting in record-breaking levels of volunteerism and creative community building. During FV 2016,the following outcomes were achieved through the Community Building&Engagement Program: • Three neighborhood associations organized and recognized by the City of Oshkosh; • Eighteen community building neighborhood events held, • Two Oshkosh residents participated in regional neighborhood leadership training; • Three neighborhoods developed professional neighborhood logos,consistent with the ONE Oshkosh brand parameters; GOJ ;l 1 i,ruI HaUrrxi,.()AA iiHhxl.iiovi,iirwfenonrun.ai,ic. • 4,081.25 volunteer hours invested,valued at$90,161.00(average value of volunteer time in WI:$22.24/hr.,/ndependentSector,2015); • $9,989.18 in CB&E funds invested; • $2,021.49 in in-kind donations contributed; • $102,181.03 worth ottotal added value created in Oshkosh neighborhoods. Real Estate Investment In October,2016 GO-HNI purchased our tirst Real Estate Development property,located at 561 Bowen Street in the Menominee South Neighborhood. To date,we have developed a scope of work for landscaping demo to be completed in spring of 2011,created floor plans for the proposed interior alterations,and drafted a scope of work for interior and exterior repairs that will be sent out to contractors for bids in early March,2011. The home was purchased for$39,900.We are anticipating an after-rehab sale price of$120,000;which is within our target price range of 10%- 20%above average area value. Resource Development The GO-HNI Board of Directors has secured private funding in 2016 from tour local foundations and three individual donors,totaling$58,100.00. Marketiniz GO-HNI staff and volunteers are actively working to promote the work of Oshkosh neighborhoods,GO-HNI,and ONE Oshkosh.The following progress has been made toward achieving our Marketing-related performance measures: • GO-HNI staff has made two television appearances on Oshkosh Media stations; • Made presentations at two Oshkosh service club meetings; • Hired a marketing firm to build a GO-HNI website,with completion anticipated by late-February of 2011 • Provided funding and assistance to three neighborhood associations to develop professional logos.Each group is planning to put the logo options to vote at their first general membership meetings of2O17.
