RE: Modified Parking Restrictions on Bay Shore Drive
BACKGROUND
Bay Shore Drive will be reconstructed this year. Bay Shore Drive is currently 28 feet wide. The
city initially planned to construct the street to the residential standard of 32 feet. The neighbors
requested the street remain at 28 feet. City staff was ok with this if parking was restricted to one
side of the street to allow emergency vehicle access.
ANALYSIS
This ordinance modifies parking restrictions on Bay Shore Drive. It removes parking on the
north side, from Frankfort Street East to its terminus. This request comes from city staff
including the public works, police, fire, and transportation departments. The Traffic Review
Advisory Board recommends approval (6-0)
FISCAL IMPACT
The fiscal impact of this ordinance is the cost of signage. The signage cost would come out of
the Sign Department operational budget.
RECOMMENDATION
Section 27A-11 of the Municipal Code pertains to parking regulations on designated streets and
alleys. I recommend that the Common Council approve this ordinance.
