RE: Modified Parking Restrictions on North Main Street
BACKGROUND
This ordinance designates modifies parking restrictions on North Main Street. It removes parking in an
area just south of Murdock Avenue where the bike lanes start and deletes a small obsolete section of 1
hour parking. This request comes from Transportation Department. The Traffic Review Advisory
Board recommends approval (5-0).
ANALYSIS
The Transportation Department noticed a couple parking regulations that needed to be tweaked in
conjunction with the reconstructed N. Main Street. One change is to extend no parking an additional
95 feet to accommodate the striped bike lane on the west side of the street south of Murdock Avenue.
The second change is to delete an obsolete 29 foot area of 1 hour parking south of Tennessee Avenue.
FISCAL IMPACT
The fiscal impact of this ordinance is the cost of signage. The signage cost would come out of the Sign
Department operational budget.
RECOMMENDATION
Section 27A-11 of the Municipal Code pertains to parking regulations on designated streets and alleys.
I recommend that the Common Council approve this ordinance.
