Gohde, Assistant Director of Public Works J' _ l V ` DATE: November 3, 2016 RE: Change Order No. 1 for Public Works Contract No. 16 -16 Seniors Center South Parking Lot Improvements Vinton Construction Company ( +$70,435.88) BACKGROUND Change Order No. 1 for Contract 16 -16 is scheduled for consideration by the Common Council at the November 9, 2016 meeting. The contract was originally awarded to Vinton Construction Company in February of 2016. This change order is for adjusting quantities to match field conditions and for additional services provided. ANALYSIS Following is a summary of the significant changes to each section of the CIP /Operating Budget: • Storm Sewer CIP — adjusted quantities to match field conditions. • Parks CIP — adjusted quantities to match field conditions. Property Improvements CIP — adjusted quantities to match field conditions. After bids were received, staff identified an additional pervious pavement material that would provide better functionality and reduced long -term maintenance. After evaluation, it was determined to utilize this material, rather than the porous asphalt that was bid. Additional over excavation was also required for the removal of contaminated soils. In addition, during the course of this project, representatives of the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh (UWO) asked if the City would assist in the reconstruction of a section of the Riverwalk directly north across the Fox River from the project site.
