SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY BOARD
OCTOBER 3, 2016

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. and a quorum was declared present.
PUBLIC COMMENT
No public comment was heard.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES, JUNE 6th, 2016
Motion by Mr. Blassingame and second by Ms. Hamzé to approve minutes as written. Motion carried (7-0-1)
UPDATE – MENOMINEE PARK SHORELAND RESTORATION SITE & VOLUNTEER DAY
Ms. Bogden Muetzel reported that the Friends of Menominee Park Shoreline have had two volunteer work
days per month throughout the summer. Different organizations have assisted with maintenance of trails and
plants throughout the area. The group is exploring creating a viewing area that would open up access and
vistas of the lake and will be planted with low grow growth plants. Work on the viewing area is anticipated to
be completed in spring. There is a work day scheduled for Saturday, October 22nd from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and
volunteers will complete final site cleanup and collect seeds that can be saved. Ms. Bogden Muetzel is also
working with a group of students from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh who will volunteer at the site on
Thursday, October 13th.
REPORT – LIVE GREEN EVENT
Ms. Davey reported that approximately 150 residents attended the first Live Green Event which was sponsored
by the City of Oshkosh and Silver Star Brands. The event was held at the Leach Amphitheater and a number of
venders had displays and participants could sign up and participate in a build your own rain barrel workshop.
UPDATE – UW-OSHKOSH ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES PROJECT – SHORELAND STUDY
Ms. Williams updated members on the collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh to study
Shoreland preservation. Students will explore the economic, social and environmental impacts of Shoreland
preservation and current legislation at the Local, State and Federal level.
UPDATE – ICLEI MILESTONE 2 REPORT AND SUMMARY OF MILESTONE 3 REPORT
Ms. Williams reviewed a summary of Milestone 3 and notified board members that the information will be
forwarded to the City Manager with a request to approve Milestone 1 and 2 Reports and authorization to
completed Milestone 3.
AGENDA ITEMS FOR FUTURE MEETING
Ms. Williams suggested Board members begin discussing 2017 goals of the Sustainability Advisory Board.

Chair Davey reminded the Board of the next meeting.

Motion by Ms. Biedermann and second by Mr. Blassingame to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 8-0.
