Topic Facilitator Discussion Actions Paratransit service to Eden Meadows Jim Collins Tom Otto David Vickman Jim Collins told the paratransit service area is currently defined as within Oshkosh city limits. He said Eden Meadows opened in 2012 in the township of Algoma. He explained this proposal before the Board would permit citizens of Oshkosh to use paratransit services to travel to visit residents of Eden Meadows, however; residents of the facility could not use this paratransit service. He said we understand the need to travel to other areas, and recommends this matter be evaluated during the Transit Development Planning (TDP) process. He explained during this process, input would be gathered from many more sources and revenue to pay for the added services could be explored. Tom Otto, of 475 Marion Rd., said someone at his complex told him the private pay cost of traveling to Eden Meadows is $28.00 one way. He said Eden Meadows is only ¾ mile from the city limits and the majority of the residents there are from Oshkosh and would benefit by having regular visitation from family and friends. Mr. Otto requests that a pilot program be implemented for 3-4 months. He said it was difficult to get people together, so the petition did not work out. David Vickman said transit service should be equitable. To address a question, he said that the city added paratransit service to the 20th Avenue YMCA after that parcel was annexed into the city of Oshkosh. He would like input from the town of Algoma during the TDP to explore options for public transit services. There was discussion and it was agreed that this item would be looked at in totality during the TDP process and the Board would be informed of the recommendation. He continued to explain that it is unknown when ordered buses will be delivered, but an estimated delivery would be in 2018.
