HomeMy WebLinkAbout14. 16-490OCTOBER 11, 2016 16-490 RESOLUTION (CARRIED________LOST________LAID OVER________WITHDRAWN________) PURPOSE: ACCEPT AND DIRECT STAFF IMPLEMENTATION OF RECOMMENDATIONS OF WALKER PARKING CONSULTANTS STUDY OF DOWNTOWN PARKING INITIATED BY: CITY ADMINISTRATION DOWNTOWN OSHKOSH BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT RECOMMENDATION: Approved PARKING UTILITY RECOMMENDATION: Approved WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh engaged Walker Parking Consultants (Walker) to prepare a comprehensive downtown parking analysis of the City’s existing parking conditions and to make recommendations for future parking plans and strategies; and WHEREAS, the Walker Study recommends a plan to better manage existing parking facilities that provides for both free public parking and paid on-street parking in the downtown area identifying areas of paid unlimited on-street parking, free four hour visitor and residential on-street parking, two hour free off-street parking and paid employee off-street parking; and WHEREAS, the Walker Study also recommends a branding and marketing system to better inform the public regarding downtown parking options; and WHEREAS, the Downtown Oshkosh Business Improvement District has reviewed and recommended the Walker Study recommendations and has made a commitment to contribute towards the cost of implementation of the Study’s recommendations if approved by the Council; and WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh Parking Utility Commission has reviewed and recommended the Walker Study recommendations.
