HomeMy WebLinkAbout08. 16-314JUNE 28, 2016 16-314 RESOLUTION (CARRIED 7-0 LOST _______ LAID OVER _______ WITHDRAWN _______) PURPOSE: AWARD BID TO INTERCLEAN EQUIPMENT INC., FOR AUTOWASH SYSTEM FOR PUBLIC WORKS FIELD OPERATIONS FACILITY ($238,868.43) INITIATED BY: PURCHASING DIVISION WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh has heretofore advertised for bids for a new autowash system within the Field Operations Facility; and WHEREAS, upon the opening and tabulation of bids, it appears that the following is the most advantageous bid: INTERCLEAN EQUIPMENT, INC. 709 James L. Hart Parkway Ypsilanti MI 48197 Total Bid: $238,868.43 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the said bid is hereby accepted and the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter into an appropriate agreement for the purpose of same, all according to plans, specifications, and bid on file. Urben, General Services Manager DATE: June 21, 2016 RE: Award Bid to InterClean Equipment Inc. for Autowash System for Public Works Field Operations Facility ($238,868.43). BACKGROUND The Common Council allocated $225,000 in the 2016 Property Improvements CIP to install a new autowash system within the Field Operations Facility. This installation will furnish a completely automatic, touchless heavy -duty vehicle wash and water reclamation system which will wash all types of city vehicles and equipment. The system will clean the front, roof, rear, both sides and chassis. This new system will allow city vehicles /equipment to remain cleaner, reduce the amount of time spent washing /cleaning manually and will help minimize salt corrosion. ANALYSIS Working with Public Works staff, Purchasing prepared bid specifications for this system. The bid was advertised in the newspaper and sent to all known system manufacturers. A mandatory pre -bid walkthrough was held on site on April 19, 2016 and several bidders attended. Bids were due on May 10, 2016 and the bid tab is attached. Staff review of the sole bid received from InterClean Equipment Inc. concluded their bid met all the minimum bid specifications. FISCAL IMPACT The total fiscal impact of this system will be $238,868.43. The Common Council allocated $225,000 in the 2016 Property Improvements CIP for this system. The system would be charged to A/N #: 323- 0450- 7204 - 06610. RECOMMENDATION City staff recommends this bid for this Autowash System be awarded to InterClean Equipment, Inc., 709 James L.
