HomeMy WebLinkAbout07. 16-279JUNE 14, 2016 16-279 RESOLUTION (CARRIED 6-0 LOST_______LAID OVER_______WITHDRAWN_______) PURPOSE: APPROVE AMENDMENT TO INSPECTION SERVICES DIVISION FEE SCHEDULE ADDING A $25.00 ANNUAL ADMINISTRATIVE FEE TO CONTRACTOR PRE-PAY ACCOUNTS INITIATED BY: INSPECTIONS SERVICES DIVISION, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the following fee is hereby added to the Inspection Services Division Fee Schedule: Annual Administrative Fee for Contractor Pre-Pay Accounts $25.00 NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the above noted revision is hereby adopted effective June 15, 2016. All other permit fees for building, plumbing, electrical and HVAC remain unchanged. MEMORANDUM OfHKOf H ON THE WATER TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: John Zarate Chief Building Official DATE: June 07, 2016 RE: Approve Amendment to Inspection Services Division Fee Schedule BACKGROUND The City of Oshkosh Inspection Services Division offers contractors the option of opening a pre -pay account in which funds deposited by the contractor are held to pay their permit fees. The pre -pay account service is convenient for contractors as they can apply for permits online or by fax and have the fees deducted from their pre -pay account without having to come into the office. Currently, there are eighty two contractors who use the pre -pay account option to pay for permit fees. ANAI YSIS City staff must process deposits and deductions made to contractor pre -pay accounts daily and balance each account on a monthly basis. As the pre -pay account is a service offered to contractors and not required, a nominal annual administrative fee of $25.00 is being requested. FISCAL IMPACT Currently there are eighty two open contractor pre -pay accounts which would add $2,505.00 to the Inspection Services Division Fund. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that City Council approves the amendment to the Inspection Services Division Fee Schedule. Respectfully Submitted, Approved: John Zarate Mark A.
