Included in your packet is the current version of the Municipal Code dealing with domesticated animals in parks and a draft of revised language based on research staff has done. If the proposed draft ordinance were adopted, domesticated animals would be allowed to be walked in all parks that have pass-through walkways, pathways or trails. This would essentially limit the number of parks where this would be allowed as not all parks have walkways/trails. In addition, domesticated animals would be prohibited from City park buildings, playground, picnic shelter, sport/athletic facility, beach, zoo, pool, splash pad, golf course and public event areas in the parks. Domesticated animals are currently allowed on the Fox River Riverwalk and this would continue. In all cases, the animal would need to be on a leash no longbe under full control of their owners. Owners would be required to clean up any waste deposited by their animal and properly dispose of it off-site. We have shared this draft amendment with the Police Chief and he is in support of the proposed amendments. If you have any questions prior to the meeting or if you will not be able to attend, please contact me at 236-5080. Thank you in advance.
