HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutesMINUTES SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY BOARD MAY 2, 2016 PRESENT: Kim Biedermann, Jan Scalpone, Lurton Blassingame, Samara Hamzé, Robert Turner, Tom Pech, and Nikki Stoll EXCUSED: Margy Davey and Michelle Bogden Muetzel STAFF: Elizabeth Williams, Associate Planner CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. and a quorum was declared present. PUBLIC COMMENT Steve Barney (1335 Summit Avenue) questioned the status of the divestment from fossil fuel resolution that the Sustainability Advisory Board passed in October, 2013. Mr. Pech noted that the Long Range Finance Committee has reviewed the proposal and the resolution is being further evaluated prior to being forwarded for consideration to d by the Common Council. APPROVAL OF MINUTES, FEBRUARY 1ST, 2016 Motion by Mr. Blassingame and second by Ms. Scalpone to approve minutes as written. Motion carried (6-0-1). SPRING RAIN BARREL WORKSHOP – SATURDAY, MAY 14, 2016 Ms. Biedermann reminded members of the upcoming build your own rain barrel workshop which will be held at the Oshkosh Masonic Center from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 14, 2016. Additional information can be found online at www.fwwa.org. FINALIZE IMPERVIOUS SURFACE BROCHURE Members reviewed the draft impervious surface brochure. Ms. Biedermann requested final comments be emailed to staff prior to the next meeting. The final version will be reviewed at the next meeting for approval. COORDINATE DATES FOR SATURDAY FARMERS MARKET BOOTH Ms. Williams reminded members to contact her with their availability to host the Sustainability Advisory Board booth during the upcoming summer Saturday Farmers Market. Selected dates and volunteers will be reported out at the next meeting. REMINDER: UW-OSHKOSH ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES STUDENT PRESENTATIONS – TUESDAY, MAY 3RD AT 11:45 A.M. AT CITY HALL, ROOM 406 Ms. Biedermann reminded members of the upcoming student presentations scheduled for Tuesday, May 3rd. AGENDA ITEMS FOR FUTURE MEETING Ms. Hamzé questioned the status of ICLEI Milestone 2 Report. Ms. Williams responded that the Milestone 2 Report has been sent to the City Manager and staff has recommended a joint workshop to discuss further. NEXT MEETING MONDAY, MAY 2ND.
