HomeMy WebLinkAbout4-21-16 MINUTESBICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES –April 21, 2016 PRESENT:Jay Stengel,Ben Rennert,Tom Otto, Adam Bellcorelli,James Michelson,Vicky Redlin,Steve Gohde STAFF:Assistant Planner Alexa Naudziunas 1.Call to Order Mr.Michelson called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2.Approval of March 17,2016 Meeting Minutes Ms. Redlin moved to approve March 17,2016 meeting minutes.Mr.Bellcorelli seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. 3.Sidewalk Request –Craig Kleinschmit Ms. Naudziunas explained that staff received a written request for sidewalks for two locations in the city. -Beech Street between Linwood and Murdock -N.Koeller Street between West Pointe Drive and Lombard Avenue. The committee discussed the importance of these two pedestrian connections. Mr. Otto made a motion to approve the N.Koeller Street connection as the highest priority and Mr. Bellcorelli seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Bellcorelli made a motion to approve the Beech Street connection and Mr. Otto seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. 4.Strava Data Analysis Ms. Naudziunas explained that during the 2015 National Bike Challenge there was data collected that indicated which routes bicyclists were using. The committee has expressed an interest in using this data to help update Bicycle and Pedestrian Circulation Plan for the five year update. The committee decided it would be best to return to this topic at the end of summer once they have less projects they are working on. 5.Irving Bike Workshop –Follow-Up The committee discussed the progress that was made during the joint workshop between the Traffic Review Advisory Board and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. The committee is looking forward to the May 23rd public information meeting for the Irving Avenue bike lane proposal. 6.Spring Bike Event -Update Ms. Naudziunas explained the committee has been meeting and the event planning process has run smoothly. The date for the event is May 21st 2016.The group has finalized the sponsor list and is finishing all the marketing materials shortly. 7.Agenda Items for the Future Meeting(s) Mr. Michelson requested that the committee review the Strava data from the 2015 National Bike Month Challenge later in the summer. 8.Adjournment Mr.Otto moved to adjourn the meeting and Mr. Bellcorelli seconded the motion.
