This widespread phenomenon has been identified as CCD, or Colony Collapse Disorder, which can be linked back to the use of pesticides. Because bees are pollinators, they are vital to food growth that humans depend on for survival. They pollinate 70 of the near 100 crop species that feed 90% of the world and are responsible for $30 billion per year in crop yields. Since 2007, bee populations have continued to decline; causing great concern for the species and for human well-being. A change is necessary in order to stabilize bee populations, and you can help. In the city of Oshkosh, beekeeping is not legal; however, beekeeping M ordinances have been passed in both Fond Du Lac and Appleton, as well as other surrounding communities.
