5.Potential Bike Share Program –Discussion
Principal Planner, Mr. Buck, explained that the bike share company,Zagster, has reached out to
various City staff in an effort to explore the option of a bike share program in the City of
Oshkosh. Mr. Buck explained that there is a student committee at the university that is
spearheading the effort to get a bike share program on campus. The university has allocated
some funding to help make this happen. Zagster and UWO is interested in partnering with the
City of Oshkosh to create a city wide bike share program. The cost of one station with 5 bikes is
roughly $9,000 per year. The committee discussed the benefits of implementing such a
program, but eventually arrived at the conclusion that it would be too expensive at this point in
time. Mr. Rennert explained that he would rather see that amount of time and money go
towards complete our bike infrastructure. A bike share program would be a final step after our
