Neighborhood AssociationCity of Oshkosh Community Development Department 215 Church Avenue, Oshkosh, WI 54901 TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Shelly Reinke, Neighborhood Coordinator DATE: February 16, 2016 SUBJECT: Recognition of the Ferry Crossing Neighborhood Association The subject neighborhood association was initially formed in 2012 as the Algoma Park Neighborhood Association (APNA). Over time, resident leadership waned and the remaining leaders found it difficult to engage and communicate with lhe nearly 1,000 households within the APNA boundaries. A neighborhood meeting was held in September 2015, where it was decided —through consensus of those present — to dissolve the APNA and form a new neighborhood association. Following several planning meetings with core team residents and Planning Services staff, a general membership meeting was held on October 12, 2015, where attendees voted on new boundaries, a new name, and adopted by-laws for their new neighborhood association, in accordance with the City's Neighborhood Recognition Policy. The Ferry Crossing Neighborhood Association's (FCNA) boundaries are as follows: North: Natural boundary of Glen Valley Horse Farm; Soulh: Linwood Ave (north side only); East: Vinland St (west side only); West: Sheridan St (both sides) Upon the creation FCNA, the number of recognized neighborhood associations in Oshkosh will be nine. City recognition will allow FCNA to access funding through lhe Community Building & Engagement Program lo support neighborhood events, projects, and activities. In addition, FCNA will be eligible to apply for Great Neighborhoods funding to support capital improvements in their neighborhood. Please advise me if you have any questions concerning the recognition of the Ferry Crossing Neighborhood Association.
