Urben, General Services Manager DATE: February 15, 2016 RE: Award Bid for HVAC Improvements Media Services/Phone Room for Genecal Services [o Gartman Mechanical Services ($39,800) There are two A/C units that provide critical supplemental cooling to the equipment and systems within the Media Services and Information Technology Phone Room azeas on the first flooc of City Hall. Unforluna[ely, both units have expedenced increasing maintenance and service issues in recen[ years and because they aze beyond their normal service life, it is no longer cost effective to conAnue to spend money ou repairs. Because of their age and conditioq and given that these units cool critical equipment and systems, our HVAC engineedconsultant (Summi[ Designs) has recommended that [hese units be replaced as soon as possible. ANALYSIS Summit Designs concluded the most cost effective HVAC solution was to remove the current HVAC equipmenUducting and replace it with five new cooling only wall units with condensers installed on top of a new concrete slabs on the exterior of the building. The ew uni[s will be moce energy efficient arid will have standalonc thertnostats foc maintaining [he space cooling se[ poin[s.
