HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-17-15 MINUTESBICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES -December 17, 2015 PRESENT:James Michelson,Jay Stengel,Vicky Redlin, Ben Rennert, Caroline Panske EXCUSED:Tom Otto, Adam Bellcorelli STAFF:Assistant Planner Alexa Naudziunas and Public Works Engineer Steve Gohde 1.Call to Order Mr.Michelson called the meeting to order at 4:03 p.m. 2.Approval of November 19,2015 Meeting Minutes Mr. Stengel moved to approve November 19th 2015 meeting minutes.Mr.Rennert seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. 3.Sharrow PSA –Review Ms. Naudziunas explained that Jim Collins, Transportation Director, worked with the Media Services Department to create an educational video regarding the recently installed sharrow markings. The committee watched the video and agreed that it will be a valuable tool for future education purposes. 4.League of American Bicyclists –Bike Friendly Community –Application Review – Ms. Naudziunas recalled Cassandra Fowler, Student Sustainability Intern and Sustainability Director for OSA, attended the November meeting in order to explain the Bike Friendly Community program.During the November meeting, the committee agreed that they would be willing to pursue this designation.Ms.Naudziunas briefly reviewed the application with the committee. Ms. Naudziunas explained that she will be working on the application in the upcoming weeks. 5.Spring Bike Event -Discussion Ms. Naudziunas expressed her appreciation for Ms. Redlin and Mr. Bellcorelli volunteering their time to serve on the event planning committee for the spring biking event. Ms. Naudziunas explained that the committee is planning the first meeting in order to start the event planning process. 6.Capital Improvement Program Review – Ms. Naudziunas distributed copies of the 2016-2020 Capital Improvement Program packet to each committee member.Steve Gohde, Public Works Engineer, reviewed each proposed item within the packet.Mr. Gohde recommended that the committee support sidewalk installations at the Bowen Pier and Mill Pier. The committee agreed to take action on this item at the January meeting. 7.Agenda Items for the Future Meeting(s) The committee requested that a representative from the Department of Transportation attend the February meeting to discuss the Jackson Street roundabout. 8.Adjournment Ms. Panske moved to adjourn the meeting and Ms. Redlin seconded the motion.
